OUR TRIP TO SANTORINI

It was in the morning of Thursday, June 7th 2001 that we arrived at the port of Rafina by car. 

We embarked on High Speed 2 going to Syros --> Paros --> Ios --> Santorini. The ferry was scheduled to arrive in Santorini island in 4 hours and 30 minutes.

The journey was lovely since there was no wind at all. Sometimes we were wondering if the ferry is really moving!

Arriving at the port of Ios we were surprised to see how quiet it is. Nothing to do with the style of Ios Town. There are lovely cafe at the port, which turn to bars at night. A truly ideal environment for romantic people who do not wish to spend their whole vacation in the fuss of the Town. You will also find lovely fish taverns in the port of Ios.

The port of Santorini (port of Athinios) will only give you a rough idea of what you will see next. It was 4 hours and 45 minutes after we left Rafina port that we reached the island of Santorini. We suddenly came face to face with gray-black rocks climbing to the sky and a few tourist and coffee shops at the foothills of these rocks.

We had finally reached Santorini...
